For the longest time, there were no plant-based pastries in France in EPCOT; you could get a baguette and that was it – that time has passed – we now have plant-based vegan macarons in France!! Merci beaucoup to vegan friend to the community, Joshua Blum for alerting us to this new menu addition. I went over to France to check it out myself and what follows is my review and all the info we have on this nouvelle patisserie! (Apologies to any French speakers, I’ll stop 😛 )

We did confirm that the ingredients are entirely vegan as-is. (I’ll share the list below) What’s interesting is rather than using the traditional almond flour that partially gives macarons their unique and recognizable flavor profile. However, in using the ingredients they have, they have made these macarons, vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free.
You get 3 macarons for $8.95. The sign above shows all the non-vegan flavors on the display case, but the vegan macaron flavors are Blueberry, Fudge, and Mango.

I will say that normally, I can’t eat vegan macarons, due to the raw almond flour. I’m not allergic, I just have a sensitivity to it, so I would’ve eaten these either way, but with these, I didn’t get a stomach ache. Anyway, the ingredients with this plant-based macaron recipe include sunflower seeds and pea and potato protein. The sunflower seeds are definitely noticeable in the flavor, with the blueberry macaron anyway. The other two flavors mask it a little better. And I don’t hate sunflower seeds by any means, it just tastes weird in a macaron. I am VERY grateful that the chefs in France even attempted to make these, and the fudge and mango flavors were delicious in my opinion. I’m just not sure I would order them again.
Here are the ingredients for the vegan macarons:

The fact that they have all the different flavors listed gives me hope that maybe they will mix up the available vegan flavors available! (UPDATE: They DO change up the flavors so you may get totally different options when you visit!) I’d love to try the caramel! So far, mango was my favorite. Let me know if you head over to France in EPCOT to try these new vegan macarons!!

I picked some up today and the flavors appear to be different. I have not eaten then yet, but mine were green (mint?), reddish pink (raspberry?), and a dark brown.
Yes, they do appear to be updating the flavors all the time, which is great!
